 Douglas Alexander replaces Alistair Darling at DfT
On Friday (5 May) the Prime Minister announced that Douglas Alexander would replace Alistair Darling as Secretary of State for Transport and Secretary of State for Scotland. Douglas Alexander comes from the Foreign Office where he was Minister of State for Europe.
Alistair Darling becomes Secretary of State at the Department of Trade and Industry.FTA Chief Executive Richard Turner has written to both Douglas Alexander and Alistair Darling wishing them well in their new roles.
Gillian Merron is a new Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport. She takes on responsibility for aviation, London and local authority transport issues (many of the former responsibilities of Karen Buck who left the DfT earlier in the year).
